Ipoh does have a bit of a problem with public transport if you are relying on buses but taxis and radio cabs are reliable, clean and cheap.
It also has a fantastic rail connection to Kuala Lumpur, it take just 1 hour 45 minutes and little less than 4.00 GBP to get to Kuala Lumpur by the train.
Air travel connectivity is good. The airport has flights to Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia via the budget carrier Fire Fly which is a subsidiary of Malaysian Airlines (MAS)
As for technology and broadband connectivity, Ipoh has a stable and fast 2 Meg Fix Line Service via the national provider, telecoms Malaysia, the City is has a free Wifi Connection provided by the council, this connection is less stable, however, Maxis and Celcom the Biggest Mobiles Broadband Provider does provide Mobile Broadband via their USD for GBP10 per month for their services.
Ipoh has a Multi Ethnic Society, it has a vibrant International Community from Europe who have chosen to make their home here. Most people speak a fairly high Standard of English. The popular ethnic languaged are Bahasa Indonesia, Chinese (Mandarin, Hokkien & Cantonese) and Tamil. Everyone speaks the national language Bahasa Malaysia very fluently.
